Bob has decided to go to the campsite that we utilize when we go to the Hiawatha campout. The directions are below. He says that there is no potable water or electrical hook-ups. There are good vault toilets, picnic tables and fire pits. There should be firewood available to forage for.
FAMIILY LIFE – We are not going to do this before the meeting, as I have a “family conflict” , so we will can do it in the main meeting after flags and announcements. We will plan to do the discussion portion of the badge, sign off anyone who has completed the at-home portions, and anyone who needs to start can do so, and we will finish it off for them in the fall.
PERSONAL FITNESS – We will also be starting the Personal Fitness merit badge later this month. First class is before the meeting May 31, second class will be before advancement night on June 7. The physical fitness checkins will take place throughout the summer.
ADVANCEMENT NIGHT – Advancement night is June 7. We need older scouts to attend, some parents for boards of review.
COURT OF HONOR – We will have our end of the season Court of Honor June 14 at 6:30. More details to come. GOOD NEWS! we will have our normal potluck style event!!! I realize that there are many families that have not experienced this. Courts of Honor Pre-COVID are a potluck meal we all share, and then we have our awards handed out. So here is how we break this down:
Last names A- L: Bring a Main DIsh and Side to share. Last Names M-Z: Bring A Dessert and a Side to share. Each family brings own plates, utensils and beverages.
We also use this time to bless the church that hosts us. There will be a basket at the head of the food table that we call “Dime-A-Dip”. Any cash contributions that are put into the basket are donated to Hamblen Presbyterian. We are SO excited to bring back this favorite tradition!!!
