WE ARE ONLINE!

ONLINE

HELLO EVERYONE! I hope this finds all of you and your families well! So much has happened this past week and more is to come!

As you know, we now have a boys troop 313-B and a girl troop 313-G at Hamblen Park. So much of what the kids will do as scouts in the coming months and years can be done together; troop meetings, campouts and online learning (more on that later). However, they are separate and have the flexibility to do their own things and have their own procedures, etc., so as to best serve our scouts. We will be developing this more as we go.

ONLINE CLASSES –   You guys, we literally have the best leadership in scouting. Jim Davis rose to the challenge of making his own YouTube channel and made videos for ALL OF SCOUT RANK!  Craig Brandvold, our webmaster, created links to all of them on the troop website!!! Julie Tylman is working on making videos for Tenderfoot, that will be up and available soon. These three amazing people do not even have kids in the troop anymore, but donate time to your scouts!   Please make sure to thank them when you get the chance!!!!

Your scouts, boys or girls, can watch these videos at your convenience and learn and practice skills for advancement. The link to these videos is : Advancement.

When they are ready to have it signed off, here is the procedure:

For boys –  email Jim Davis at greyhaus@gmail.com. He will contact you to schedule a video conference with you and your scout. For youth protection purposes, a parent must be present (at least within earshot) while this call is taking place for Youth Protection purposes. Once the scout has demonstrated the skill to Jim’s satisfaction he will track the completed skill for updating in the book at a later date.

For girls:   email Jen Walter at rjwalter1@comcast.net OR Julie Tylman  at julie.tylman@pearson.com

They will contact you to schedule a video conference with you and your scout. For youth protection purposes, a parent must be present (at least within earshot) while this call is taking place for Youth Protection purposes. Once the scout has demonstrated the skill to their satisfaction they will track the completed skill for updating in the book at a later date.

Let me or any of your leadership know if you have any trouble, or have any questions or concerns!

PERSONAL FITNESS  –  Next Tuesday, May 12, at 7 PM, is my first Personal Fitness Class time via Zoom. Link/Details will be posted that afternoon. We will do the classwork via Zoom, and the physical part of it later in the spring/summer, or each scout can do it on their own with a parent.

SUMMER CAMP  –  As far as we know, camp is still on. I am being told that they are updating the camp to include masks, hand washing and sanitizing stations, all new medical equipment and and meal at campsites instead of the dining hall (which might not be ideal, but there  we are) . If they cancel camp, you will be refunded the full price. If, after payment, you personally decide sending them to camp is not right for your family, the initial information that I have (which is not 100% certain yet) is that a full refund would be given., minus about $40.

If you have paid in full, you should have received an email from me with the credentials to sign up for classes. If not, please notify me immediately. There are a few of you who made deposits, but have to complete payment soon.  I will contact you with your balance. PLease let me know immediately, and please pay in full as soon as possible if you still intend to send your son to camp.  We need to make our final payment soon.

Also, if you family has struggled during this time and needs financial assistance to finish a camp payment, please let me know. There is NO JUDGMENT; the troop will do what we can do help your scout get to camp.
