Hello everyone! I hope your summer is going well! As for me, I am busy getting 313 ready for the boys to start up again this fall. Here are some upcoming events:
Parents Kick- Off Meeting– on August 27 at 6 PM at the shelter at Hamblen Park (behind the school ) We will have our informational meeting to start the school year. Plan on attending, and bring something to sit on! We will be going over upcoming events, including the meeting schedule, court of honor, September’s camp out another need to know items.
Youth Protection Training– As part of getting the Troop ready for September, one of the tasks I have is to make sure all adults who are going to be interacting with or driving our scouts to camp outs, serving as merit badge counselors, etc. are all up to date on youth protection training. In reviewing our records, almost everyone who has taught merit badges in the last year has just had their training recently expire. I know sometimes I have found it hard to find time to do this. So, in the fall, I will be organizing a group viewing of the program. Anyone who needs to have their certificate updated, or new parents who have not done this before, but plan on being active with the boys is encouraged to attend. Most likley, this will take place either during a merit badge class before the troop meeting, or during the meeting itself. The date and location will be announced as soon as I figure this out! I really hope this turns out to be convenient for a lot of parents and encourages more of you to get involved!
STEM MBU registration is now open at nwscouts.org. It is at EWU this year and not GU as it has been in the past. Ms. Boyle is teaching merit badges all 4 sessions, so rides are available for anyone who would like to ride out with them.
POPCORN We are looking for a co-chair for popcorn, mostly to help on weekends to drop off and pick up inventory from store fronts to help split the work there. Contact Felicia Boyle when meetings begin in September if you can help out.
Also, for those selling popcorn, there will be a special training event from the Trail’s End top seller, Luke Fewx. It is Monday August 26th at North Pines Middle School from 5:30-7pm. Ms. Boyle will be taking Dylan and is happy to car-pool out there with anyone else wishing to attend. 7 of the top 10 sellers in our Council in 2018 attended this training last year.
